Fuengirola Adventure Golf is a miniature golf course in the Parque Fluvial, the riverside park along the Río Fuengirola, tucked behind the Miramar shopping centre and within easy walking distance of the beach. It is a family attraction rather than a real golf course: you need no experience, and putters, balls, a scorecard and a pencil are handed out at the entrance.

The course has 19 holes laid out on lawns among palm trees and leafy shade trees, with small ponds, bridges, tunnels, slopes and sand traps. Water features in ten of the holes, which is where most balls go astray. Groups of up to six play together, and a round takes about an hour. A bar and café sells drinks and ice creams, so parents can take a break between rounds.

Hours change with the season, and it generally opens from around lunchtime into the evening rather than in the morning; check before going. Family tickets and child discounts are available.

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons. In July and August, come in the early evening, when the shade trees and lower sun make it far more comfortable than midday, then walk on to the seafront or nearby Sohail Castle.

Fuengirola's long seafront is close by. Playa de Fuengirola (1 km), the Blue Flag town beach, runs along the promenade between the port and Sohail Castle, and further east Playa de las Gaviotas (3 km) is a calmer stretch between Los Boliches and Torreblanca. For real golf, head inland to Las Lagunas de Mijas: Cerrado del Águila Golf & Resort (3 km) is a nine-hole course, and Mijas Golf (3 km), founded in 1976, has two 18-hole courses. Chaparral Golf Club (3 km) is a Pepe Gancedo design near the coast at Mijas Costa.
