About Aloha Golf Club

Aloha Golf Club lies in Marbella's Golf Valley, in the Nueva Andalucía area about five minutes inland from Puerto Banús. It opened in October 1975 as the last design of Javier Arana, who died that January before construction was finished.

The par-72 parkland course is known for narrow, tree-lined fairways, lakes and streams, and a varied collection of pines, carobs, olives, palms and araucarias. The club sums it up as "easy bogey, difficult par", and the par 3s are its toughest test. Between April and July 2023 all 18 greens were rebuilt by Lobb + Partners with bentgrass, partly to restore pin positions Arana had intended.

Aloha has hosted the European Tour's Open de Andalucía three times, won by Lee Westwood in 2007, Thomas Levet in 2008 and Julien Quesne in 2012, and the 2016 Women's Spanish Open, won by Azahara Muñoz. Westwood holds the course record of 64. There is also a nine-hole short course used by the junior school.

It is a private club of around 1,200 members and visitor access is restricted, so check before planning a round. October to May gives the best conditions; in summer, an early tee time keeps you ahead of the midday heat.

Aloha sits among the densest cluster of courses on the Costa del Sol. Close by, The Range Golf Academy (500 m) is a practice and coaching centre for warming up or working on your swing. Real Club de Golf Las Brisas (1 km), a Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout from 1970, is practically next door, and Magna Golf Marbella (2 km) and Los Naranjos Golf Club (2 km) complete the neighbouring courses of the Golf Valley. When you have had enough golf, Playa Río Verde (2 km) is the nearest stretch of sand, on the coast west of central Marbella towards Puerto Banús.
