About Real Club de Golf Las Brisas

Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is one of the historic courses of the Costa del Sol, set in Nueva Andalucía above Puerto Banús. José Banús founded it in 1968 as the Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía, and it opened in 1970 with a Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout and an arboretum by Gerald Huggan. It became 'Real' in 1995.

Water defines the course: ten artificial lakes come into play on many holes, raised greens are tightly bunkered and the doglegs are subtle, so placement matters more than length. Kyle Phillips renovated it in 2015, and mature trees give it a sheltered, parkland feel.

Its tournament record is outstanding. Las Brisas hosted the 1970 Spanish Open, the 1973 World Cup, won by Jack Nicklaus and Johnny Miller with a course-record 65, the 1989 World Cup and the 2023 Women's Spanish Open, won by Aditi Ashok. It remains a private club of around 1,100 members, with a par-3 course, driving range and clubhouse restaurant.

Visitor tee times are limited, so book well ahead. October to May brings the best conditions; in summer, take the earliest tee time to finish before the midday heat.

Las Brisas sits in the heart of Marbella's so-called Golf Valley. Magna Golf Marbella (800 m) and Los Naranjos Golf Club (900 m) are practically next door, and Aloha Golf Club (1 km) is barely further. To work on your swing, The Range Golf Academy (1.4 km) offers data-led practice and coaching, and a little further up the valley La Quinta Golf & Country Club (2 km) adds another course with views over the coast. It is easy to plan several rounds without moving hotel. Most are within a five-minute drive of one another.
