Playa de las Gaviotas

Playa de las Gaviotas is one of Fuengirola's central town beaches, about 1,200 metres of dark sand between Los Boliches and Torreblanca, part of a Blue Flag stretch with adapted access.

About Playa de las Gaviotas

Playa de las Gaviotas is one of Fuengirola's central town beaches, on the Costa del Sol in Málaga province. It runs between Los Boliches to the west and Torreblanca to the east, and is about 1,200 metres long and 40 metres wide. The sand is dark, with some shingle, and the water is usually calm.

The beach is backed by the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España, Fuengirola's long seafront promenade, with Avenida de las Gaviotas (the old N-340) behind it. It forms part of the Boliches-Las Gaviotas stretch, which holds a Blue Flag, and the Las Gaviotas section is noted for services for disabled visitors, including adapted access and sunbeds.

Facilities are those of a full resort beach: lifeguards, sunbed and umbrella hire, water-sports rental, showers, toilets, a children's area and sports areas. Windsurfing is popular when the wind is up. The Los Boliches and Torreblanca stations on the Cercanías line from Málaga are both within walking distance.

It is busy in July and August, so May, June and late September are the best months. Come in the morning to get a spot near the water, or walk the promenade in the early evening when the heat drops.

Nearby places to visit

The rest of Fuengirola's seafront is close by. Playa de Fuengirola (2 km) lies along the same promenade. To the east, Playa de Carvajal (3 km) straddles the boundary with Benalmádena and is quieter than the central beaches. For a change from the sand, Fuengirola Adventure Golf (3 km) is a family mini-golf course, and Disc Golf Park Mijas (3 km) offers disc golf in neighbouring Mijas. The Cercanías train stops along this coast make it easy to hop between beaches and attractions without a car.
