About Playa de Cortijo Blanco

Playa de Cortijo Blanco is a short beach in Marbella's San Pedro de Alcántara district, the eastern continuation of San Pedro's main beach, ending at the mouth of the Río Guadaiza. It is about 500 m long and some 25 m wide, with sand and rounded stones, and forms a slight headland in front of the mature Cortijo Blanco urbanisation.

This is a residential, semi-urban beach rather than a resort strip, and much of its character comes from the beach clubs along it: the Alabardero beach club, which has its own swimming pool, and Kala Kalua, a wooden chiringuito at the eastern end.

Documented services include toilets, showers, sunbed and umbrella hire, water-sports rental and a children's area, and the sea usually has a moderate swell. There is no dedicated car park: some street parking exists in the urbanisation, and in busy summer periods it is easier to park at San Pedro's beach and walk east along the shore.

June and September are the best months, warm enough for long swims without the August pressure on parking. Mornings are best for finding a space and a quiet spot on the sand, while the beach clubs make the late afternoon and sunset the liveliest time.

Nearby places to visit

Walking west along the sand, Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara (900 m) is a regenerated town beach with a seafront promenade, restaurants and the easiest parking in the area. Close by, Playa El Rodeito (1 km) is another short beach on this part of the Marbella coast, and Playa de Linda Vista (1 km), beside the Linda Vista urbanisation, is busy and well serviced. East across the Río Guadaiza, Playa Nueva Andalucía (2 km) leads on towards Puerto Banús. For golf, San Pedro Golf Club (2 km) is the closest course. Note that the river can only be crossed on the main coast road.
