Bodegas Tradición

Small Jerez bodega devoted to very old VOS and VORS sherries, whose 90-minute tour also takes in a private collection of Spanish paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries.

About Bodegas Tradición

Tradición was founded in 1998 by a group of Jerez families who set out to revive the old way of selling only long-aged wines. They bought very old soleras and moved them into a whitewashed bodega with patios on Plaza Cordobeses. The range is short: Fino Tradición, plus amontillado, oloroso, palo cortado and Pedro Ximénez certified VOS (over 20 years) or VORS (over 30 years) under DO Jerez, and an aged brandy.

The Tradición visit lasts about 90 minutes in groups of up to 10. A guide explains biological and oxidative ageing among the butts, then leads you through the gallery of Spanish paintings from the 14th to the 19th century, with works attributed to Goya, Zurbarán, Velázquez and El Greco. The tasting covers VORS and VOS wines and the fino, with a snack. Private visits add the brandy cellar and historical photo archive.

The standard visit costs €60 per person (2026); private and technical visits are priced on request, the technical one at about €300. Book online or on +34 689 224 162. Visits are in Spanish and English; tourism listings give winter weekday hours of 09:00–17:00. It is 5 minutes' walk from the cathedral.

Groups are small, so book a few days ahead in September, during the Fiestas de la Vendimia, and in November. The wines are expensive but long-lived: an opened VORS keeps for weeks. The shop sells the full range, with half bottles that are easier to carry home.
