Bodega Lustau
Award-winning sherry house in Jerez, founded in 1896, whose six restored 19th-century cathedral bodegas host tastings of up to seven wines, including VORS.
About Bodega Lustau
The firm began in 1896 when José Ruiz-Berdejo started making wine on his estate as an almacenista, ageing sherry to sell to bigger houses. His son-in-law Emilio Lustau moved the business into old Jerez and launched his own brands from 1945. Part of the Luis Caballero group since 1990, Lustau bought these six 19th-century bodegas in 2000. It makes DO Jerez wines in every style, plus vermouth, brandy and vinegar.
The visit takes you through high-roofed cellars with albero sand floors and rows of American oak butts. On the standard tour you taste five wines along the way and finish with a vermouth. A longer visit adds premium wines and two VORS, and the Sacristía tour ends with very old wines in the private room where they age. In 2026 the cellar master Sergio Martínez was named the world's best fortified winemaker for the eighth time.
Cathedrals of Wine with five wines and a vermouth costs €26 (2026), Symbols of Sherry €36 and the Sacristy of Lustau €60. Tours last 60–90 minutes and run in English and Spanish. Visitor hours have been listed as Monday to Friday 09:30–16:00 and Saturday 10:00–15:00; book online. It is 15 minutes' walk from the centre.
Autumn is busiest, with the Fiestas de la Vendimia in September and Sherry Week in November. Look for the Almacenista range and the East India Solera in the shop. Tastings are generous, so leave the car behind if visiting other bodegas.
