About Sherry Golf Jerez

Sherry Golf Jerez is a golf complex on Calle Suiza, on the southern outskirts of Jerez de la Frontera, in Cádiz province. Founded in 2004, it was designed by Stirling & Martin of the Global Golf Company.

The main 18-hole course is a par 72 that stretches to 6,572 metres from the back tees, making it one of the longest in Spain. It follows American design ideas: wide fairways, large greens and gently rolling ground without steep slopes, so it plays fairly for high handicaps from the forward tees while the length tests good players from the back. It has hosted the Copa S.M. El Rey, Spain's leading amateur championship, in 2006, 2015 and 2022.

Alongside it are a nine-hole par-3 course of 911 metres, a three-hole short course, a driving range with chipping and putting greens and a practice bunker, plus an academy, a restaurant and a pro shop. Visitors are welcome every day, but booking and a handicap certificate are required for the big course.

The best months are October to May, when the open campiña around Jerez is green and mild. In July and August, book the first tee time of the day to finish before the inland heat builds.

From the course it is a short drive south-west to the Bay of Cádiz. In El Puerto de Santa María, Real Club de Golf Vista Hermosa (13 km) is a nine-hole members' club opened in 1975. The long sweep of Playa de Valdelagrana (11 km) faces Cádiz across the bay in front of the Valdelagrana district. Back on the Jerez side, Montecastillo Golf & Country Club (12 km) is the Jack Nicklaus course beside the motor-racing circuit. Playa de la Puntilla (12 km), at the mouth of the Guadalete, is El Puerto's town beach.
