About Circuito de Jerez Museum

The Motor Museum of the Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto is a permanent motorsport exhibition inside the racing circuit, on the Jerez to Arcos road about 10 km east of Jerez de la Frontera. It can only be seen as part of the circuit's guided tour, not on its own.

The circuit opened in December 1985 and has hosted the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix since 1987; with Assen, it is regarded as one of the benchmark tracks for motorcycle racing. The museum has exhibits on Formula One and motorcycle stars including Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Valentino Rossi, Marc Márquez and Ángel Nieto: a Jorge Lorenzo race suit, helmets worn by Senna, Nieto and Dani Pedrosa, and examples of Formula One and MotoGP technology.

The tour, of roughly an hour, also takes in the race control room, the press room, the conference room, the raised viewing platform known as the UFO and the podium, for a photo. It runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:00 and 12:00, must be booked online at least 24 hours ahead, and does not run during race meetings or closed test sessions.

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons. Take the 10:00 tour in summer, before the heat builds over the exposed grandstands.

Right next door, Montecastillo Golf & Country Club (1 km) is a Jack Nicklaus course opened in 1993, and Sherry Golf Jerez (12 km) is a second Jerez course for another round. Towards the coast, the Valdelagrana district of El Puerto de Santa María has a long beach on the Bay of Cádiz, Playa de Valdelagrana (23 km). Nearer the old centre, Playa de la Puntilla (23 km) is the 1.3 km town beach at the mouth of the Guadalete. A morning tour of the circuit still leaves plenty of time for lunch in Jerez and an afternoon by the sea.
