Bodegas Fundador

The oldest bodega in Jerez, dating from 1730, where tours cross the vast La Mezquita cellar and the Fundador museum before tastings of Harveys sherry and brandy.

About Bodegas Fundador

The story starts in 1730 at El Molino, the founding bodega, and grew under the Domecq family, who launched Fundador in 1874 as the first Spanish brandy. It also owns Harveys, the best-selling sherry brand, and the El Majuelo vineyard outside town. Production covers DO Jerez wines such as fino, amontillado and oloroso from Palomino, sweet Pedro Ximénez and Brandy de Jerez aged in sherry casks.

The tour lasts 90 minutes to two hours. It starts at El Molino, crosses La Mezquita with its forest of whitewashed arches, passes the Puerta de Rota garden, a listed Site of Cultural Interest, and ends in the Fundador museum opened in 2024 for the brand's 150th anniversary. Tastings range from one wine and a brandy to Harveys VORS, with food pairings at Casa Fundador.

Tours run Tuesday to Thursday at 12:00, Friday at 12:00 and 19:00 and Saturday at 11:00, 13:00 and 19:00 (20:00 in July and August); closed Sundays and Mondays. Prices in 2026 run from €18 for one wine and one brandy and €25 for three wines and a brandy to €45 for Fundador Supremo; pairings cost €40–€100. Tours are in Spanish and English and booking is required.

Come in September for the Fiestas de la Vendimia, or in December, when Jerez holds its zambombas. Buy Harveys Bristol Cream or a Fundador Supremo 12. The Gastro Experience on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 14:00 combines the tour with lunch, which makes sense if you are not driving.
