Bodegas Salado
Family bodega in Umbrete, founded in 1810, that grows the native Garrido Fino grape on albariza soils and runs guided visits of its 19th-century lagar and cask hall.
About Bodegas Salado
Ramón Salado planted the first Garrido Fino vines in Umbrete in the early 19th century, and the bodega dates from 1810. For over a century the family sold its aged wine to other houses; Curro Salado began bottling under the family name in the 1970s, and brothers Francisco and Pedro, the sixth generation, run it today. The vines grow on albariza at the Las Yeguas estate, with Garrido Fino, the Aljarafe's native white grape.
The visit crosses the Casco de las Mil Botas, a 1,000 m² cask hall that once held 1,500 butts, and the restored 19th-century lagar where the wines now age, then the 20th-century lagar, now the shop, and the vinification hall. The tasting in an Andalusian patio pairs Garrido Fino wines with Ibérico cold meats and other local produce.
Visits are by booking at least a day ahead, for 4–20 people. In 2026 the Garrido Fino experience, a guided visit with wines and food lasting 90–105 minutes, costs €35, and the Vendimia Seleccionada experience €80. Book at mice@bodegassalado.com or online. There is free parking and wheelchair access. Umbrete is 20 minutes by car from Seville; choose a designated driver.
The Garrido Fino harvest is usually in late August and early September. Buy a bottle from Finca Las Yeguas. Tip: pair the visit with Bodegas Góngora, 3 km away.
