Bodega Delgado Zuleta

Sanlúcar de Barrameda bodega founded in 1744, billed as the sherry region's oldest, maker of La Goya manzanilla, with a wine interpretation centre and tours in four languages.

About Bodega Delgado Zuleta

Founded in 1744, with account books from 1719, it bills itself as the sherry region's oldest firm. It works under DO Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda and DO Jerez, making La Goya and Barbiana manzanillas and the Monteagudo range of amontillado, oloroso, cream and Pedro Ximénez. In 2012 it opened the first wine interpretation centre in the region in its Tío Paco bodega, renovated in 2024 for its 280th anniversary.

The Copa en Mano visit starts in a small demonstration vineyard, then moves among century-old butts to explain how manzanilla ages under flor, with a stop in the interpretation centre and its displays on bodega tools, customs and vocabulary. The tasting covers four wines: two manzanillas, an amontillado and a cream. Other options include a tour led by an 18th-century character, tapas in corners of the bodega and occasional equestrian shows.

The Copa en Mano visit runs daily at 11:00 in German, English and Italian and at 12:00 in Spanish, and costs €15 (2026, minimum four people); the evening visit, Monday to Saturday at 19:00 (20:00 from July to September), costs €20. Tours last about 90 minutes. Book by email or online; payment is due 48 hours before. Visits are adapted for wheelchair users and there is a large free car park.

Sanlúcar's Feria de la Manzanilla in late May and the beach horse races in August fill the town, so book early then. Buy La Goya manzanilla pasada in the shop. Allow two hours.
