About Club de Campo y Golf La Luna de Doñana
Club de Campo y Golf La Luna de Doñana, also known as Sanlúcar Club de Campo, is an 18-hole, par-72 course on the Lomas de Martín Miguel, a low ridge on the eastern side of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the manzanilla town where the Guadalquivir meets the Atlantic in north-west Cádiz province. Designed by Borja Queipo de Llano and opened in 2004, it measures 6,574 metres from the back tees and looks across the river mouth to Doñana National Park.
The two nines play very differently. The front nine runs along the coast in links style, with deep bunkers, small greens and wind off the Atlantic that changes from day to day. The back nine is American in style, with small lakes in play on seven holes. About 3,000 trees have been planted to give shelter as they mature.
Practice facilities include a natural-grass driving range, pitching and putting greens and a golf school, and there is club, buggy and trolley hire, a restaurant and a bar. Book in advance.
Autumn and spring give the most reliable conditions here. Book a morning tee time, when the wind on the exposed front nine is often lighter, then head into town for manzanilla and seafood at Bajo de Guía.

Nearby places to visit
In town, the Manzanilla Museum (Bodegas Barbadillo) (3 km) is the visitor centre of a leading manzanilla producer, in a 19th-century house opposite the Castillo de Santiago. South along the coast, Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club (15 km) offers a larger golf resort, while Rota Golf Club (18 km) plays inside the Rota naval base, so it is not a normal pay-and-play venue. Playa de Punta Candor (18 km) is a natural, dune-backed Atlantic beach near Rota. In Rota itself, Playa del Rompidillo (19 km) is the town beach on the Bay of Cádiz side, running east from the marina below the old town, with calm water.
