Casa Bigote
Seafood house at Bajo de Guía in Sanlúcar, opened as a fishermen's manzanilla tavern by Fernando Hermoso 'Bigote' in 1951 and famous for its prawns; a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
About Casa Bigote
Fernando Hermoso, nicknamed Bigote, opened a small tavern at Bajo de Guía in 1951 to serve manzanilla to the fishermen of the beach. In 1969 his sons Fernando and Paco added tapas and marinero stews, and in 1979 they opened the first dining room. The third generation, Fernando front of house and César in the kitchen, runs it today and keeps the original tavern. In 2026 it is a Michelin Bib Gourmand and holds one Repsol Sol.
The emblem is the langostino de Sanlúcar, a striped prawn from the estuary bought daily at the Bonanza fish market and served boiled, grilled or in a salad. The menu also has fried fish and squid, prawns al ajillo in a clay dish, fish of the day by weight and slow marinero guisos (fish and potato stews), with manzanilla to drink. In the tavern you order tapas at the bar; the dining rooms have table service.
It opens Monday to Saturday 13:00–16:00 and 20:30–23:30, and closes on Sundays. A dining-room meal with wine is about €40–60 per person (2026), prawns priced by weight. Book online or by phone, especially for a window table. There is a terrace on the promenade.
Lunch from 14:00 gives daylight views across the river to Doñana, and boats to the park leave from the jetty nearby. Langostinos are best from spring to autumn. Tip: take a tapa and a manzanilla in the old tavern before a Doñana boat trip.
