Basilippo
Family olive estate at Hacienda Merrha near El Viso del Alcor, with 6,000 Arbequina trees on 24 hectares and an olive culture centre running guided visits and tastings since 2004.
About Basilippo
The Morillo family has grown olives in Los Alcores since 1850; Juan Antonio Morillo founded Basilippo, named after a Tartessian town thought to have stood between El Viso del Alcor and Carmona, and the family firm Oleomorillo has produced the oil since 1999. Its heart is Hacienda Merrha, a farm in the style of 18th-century Sevillian haciendas with more than 6,000 Arbequina trees on 24 hectares.
The 90-minute Oleovisit explains what makes a quality extra virgin oil, from tree and harvest to mill and storage, and ends with a guided tasting. Oleotasting is a shorter self-guided walk with information panels, then a tasting. On Saturdays Oleofamily pairs an adult tour with a children's session in the prize-winning Oleoescuela. The shop sells early-harvest, organic and orange- and vanilla-flavoured oils.
The centre opens Monday to Friday 09:00–13:00 and 16:00–18:00 (July–August 08:00–14:00) and Saturday 10:00–14:00; all visits are booked ahead and priced on request by group size and language. A half-day trip from Seville with transport, sold through Fever, costs €89 for adults and €65 for young people in 2026. Guides speak English. The hacienda is 2 km north-west of El Viso, with parking.
Visit from late September to see the early harvest and new oil. Try the orange oil over chocolate ice cream. Tip: ask for a price when you book.

Nearby places to visit
Hacienda Guzmán, 9 km west in La Rinconada, adds a restored 17th-century mill, a carriage museum and a collection of 150 olive varieties. Carmona is the obvious place for lunch: the Roman Necropolis of Carmona, 10 km east, has rock-cut Roman tombs, and the Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla, Carmona, 11 km east, guards the old town gate with views over the plain. The Castillo de Alcalá de Guadaíra, 13 km south, stands above the Guadaíra river and its old flour mills. El Viso del Alcor itself sits on the edge of the Alcores escarpment, with views across the Guadalquivir plain.
