About Tramores Golf Club

Tramores Golf is the shortest of the three 18-hole courses at Villa Padierna Golf Club, in the Los Flamingos hills of Benahavís, just inland from the coast between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona on Málaga's Costa del Sol. It shares the club's clubhouse, practice ground and booking office with the Flamingos and Alferini courses, beside the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace hotel.

The course was designed by Cristóbal Guerrero, Villa Padierna's greenkeeper. It is a par 63 of just under 3,500 metres from the back tees, one of the few courses of its kind on the Costa del Sol, and the resort calls it an executive course. Holes are short but not plain: one green has a bunker in its middle. It suits juniors, beginners, players working on their irons and anyone short of time, and a handicap of 48 is enough to play.

The club has a driving range, putting green, chipping area and practice bunker, a pro shop, club hire and food and drink service.

The best months are October to May, when the hills are green and temperatures mild. Because a round takes far less time than a full-length course, a late-afternoon tee time works well in summer, once the worst heat has passed.

Tramores sits within a cluster of courses on the Benahavís, Marbella and Estepona boundary. Flamingos Golf (600 m) is the club's par-71 course, laid out around a lake. Alferini Golf (700 m), opened in 2007, is the longest of the three, a par 73 of over 6,600 metres. The Villa Padierna Golf Club (700 m) clubhouse, beside the palace-style hotel, is where all three are booked. El Paraíso Golf (1 km) lies just across the Estepona boundary, and Atalaya Golf & Country Club (3 km), whose Old Course by Bernhard von Limburger dates from 1968, offers 36 holes.
