Santa María Golf & Country Club
Santa María Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole course in Elviria, on the eastern side of Marbella, following two valleys beside pine and cork-oak woods, with a traditional cortijo as its clubhouse.
About Santa María Golf & Country Club
Santa María Golf & Country Club lies in Elviria, on the eastern side of Marbella, at kilometre 192 of the old N-340 coast road. Its first nine holes, designed by Antonio García Garrido, opened in 1991; the club's own technical team laid out the second nine, which opened in November 1996.
The course follows the contours of two valleys beside pine and cork-oak woods, with sea views and oak-covered hills behind. A stream and four lakes bring water into play on the 1st, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 11th, where a waterfall tumbles beside the green. The front nine has many short par 4s that reward accuracy over power, while the back nine gives more room for the driver. The layout has been lengthened over the years: in 2019 the 9th became a 511-metre par 5, and it now plays as a par 72 of about 6,015 metres.
The clubhouse is a traditional cortijo, an old Andalusian farmhouse, set in large gardens with a restaurant patio. There are also putting and chipping greens, a pitch and putt, and tennis.
The club opens all year. From October to May play any time; in summer book an early tee time and finish before midday.
