A small minigolf sits beside the Sendero Mágico El Ruiseñor, the footpath that loops around the edge of El Secadero. The village, home to about 1,300 people, lies on the Málaga bank of the Guadiaro, across the river from San Martín del Tesorillo and a few minutes from Sotogrande. El Secadero and the path belong to the municipality of Casares.

No details of the minigolf itself, such as the number of holes, opening times or charges, have been published, so ask locally first. Casares council spent more than €260,000 renovating it, and it reopened in February 2025 with a harder-wearing surface, drainage, new steps and access from several village streets, plus benches, signs and picnic tables made from recycled material.

Along the way, wooden sculptures by the artist Diego Guerrero depict local wildlife, mostly insects and birds, as well as frogs, snails and owls, each with a short panel on the species. The nightingale gives the trail its name. There are no steep gradients, so it suits pushchairs and visitors with reduced mobility.

Spring is the best season, when nightingales are in song. Come early in the morning or towards dusk, when birdsong is strongest and the summer heat eases.

From El Secadero it is a short drive down the Guadiaro valley to the coast. Closest is Club de Golf La Cañada (5 km), an established course near the village of Guadiaro in San Roque. On the coast, Playa de Cala Sardina (6 km) and Playa de Torreguadiaro (6 km), beside the village of the same name, lie on the San Roque side of the provincial border. Heading east into Manilva, Playa de las Arenas (6 km) is on the stretch of coast towards Sabinillas. A walk on the path followed by an afternoon at the beach makes an easy half-day.
