About Playa de la Cachucha

Playa de la Cachucha is a small urban beach in Puerto Real, on the inner shore of the Bay of Cádiz. About 370 m long and 50 m wide, it is a strip of golden sand in the town itself, with a seafront promenade behind it.

Because it lies inside the bay rather than on the open Atlantic, the water is calm, with almost no waves, which suits children. The shoreline falls within the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, a protected area of salt marshes and tidal channels. The Atlantic tide is noticeable, so the beach changes through the day.

Facilities include toilets, showers, footbaths, a children's area, food and drink and a rescue team, with adapted access for people with reduced mobility. It is easy to reach on foot, by urban bus or via the CA-2012, and there is an unguarded car park with 50 to 100 spaces.

June to early September is the main bathing season. Check the tide table and come around high tide, when the water is closest to the promenade; at low tide you have further to walk to the sea. Late afternoon is pleasant, with the sun lowering over the bay towards Cádiz.
