Playa de Casasola
Playa de Casasola is a narrow 2 km beach of sand, gravel and boulders at the eastern end of Estepona's coast, marked by the Torre de Baños watchtower.
About Playa de Casasola
Playa de Casasola runs for about 2 km along the eastern end of Estepona's coast, in the Atalaya-Isdabe area, a short way west of the Río Guadalmina, which marks the boundary with Marbella. It is a narrow, semi-urban beach, between 2 and 20 m wide, where stretches of sand alternate with strips of gravel and boulders.
Its landmark is the Torre de Baños, also called the Torre de Casasola: a cylindrical watchtower about 15 m high, of Muslim origin and believed to date from the 14th century, with a conical base added in 1565 to steady it. It takes its name from nearby Roman baths. Behind the beach, a dune area of botanical interest is protected within the El Saladillo-Punta de Baños site of community importance.
Facilities are modest: toilets, showers and footbaths, sunbed and umbrella hire, food and drink, and a promenade. Parking is unsupervised and limited to fewer than 50 spaces, and the interurban bus between Estepona and Marbella runs along the nearby A-7.
Late spring and September suit it best, when the sea is warm and the few parking spaces are easier to find. In July and August arrive by mid-morning, or come in the late afternoon, when the low sun lights the tower.

Nearby places to visit
Golf dominates this corner of the coast. Real Club de Golf Guadalmina (1 km) lies just across the river, with one of its courses running behind Guadalmina beach, and Atalaya Golf & Country Club (1 km) is on the Estepona side. In Marbella's San Pedro de Alcántara district, Playa de Linda Vista (2 km) is a busy, well-serviced beach beside the Linda Vista urbanisation, and San Pedro Golf Club (2 km) is close by. Back in Estepona, El Paraíso Golf (2 km) completes a cluster of courses within a short drive of the sand, so a round and a swim fit easily into one day.
