About La Resina Golf & Country Club

La Resina Golf & Country Club is a nine-hole course inside the La Resina development on the eastern side of Estepona, just off the N-340 at kilometre 162.5. Take the Selwo turn-off and turn right at the second roundabout. Opened in 2005 to a design by Craig Cooke and Bradley Smith, it is a relaxed alternative to the big championship courses nearby.

The holes follow the natural contours of the land and wind around lakes, old olive trees and semi-tropical gardens, with gently undulating fairways and greens. The club describes all nine holes as par 3s, so this is a course for sharpening iron play and the short game rather than testing the driver.

ESY Golf Management has renovated and reopened the club, but restoration work continued after the reopening, so course condition can vary. Facilities include a driving range, golf school, clubhouse restaurant with a terrace, and club, buggy and trolley hire; the green fee has included a set of clubs.

October to May is the most pleasant season. In summer, play first thing in the morning or as an evening nine once the heat eases.

Nearby places to visit

Down by the sea, Playa de Guadalmansa (2 km), on the coast east of Estepona, and Playa Arroyo de las Cañas (2 km), a narrow beach of dark sand and gravel named after the stream in the club's address, are the closest places for a swim. For a full-length round, Villa Padierna Golf Club (2 km) has three 18-hole courses in the hills inland, including Flamingos Golf (2 km), the oldest of them, opened in 2001. Its championship course, Alferini Golf (3 km), is a par-73 of 6,641 metres opened in 2007 that hosted the Ladies European Tour's 2022 Open de España.
