Restaurante Chikito
Restaurant opened in 1976 in the former Café Alameda on Plaza del Campillo, where Lorca, Falla and the Rinconcillo circle met; known for habitas con jamón and rabo de toro.
About Restaurante Chikito
Luis Oruezábal opened Chikito on 16 March 1976 in the former Café Alameda. Between 1915 and 1929 its corner hosted El Rinconcillo, the tertulia (literary circle) of Federico García Lorca, his brother Francisco, Manuel de Falla and the young Andrés Segovia. Since 2015 a life-size bronze of Lorca has sat in that corner. Oruezábal's sons Diego and Daniel now run the house, which keeps beamed ceilings, tiled dados and walls of photographs.
The cooking is Granada and Andalusian. House classics are habitas fritas con jamón (baby broad beans fried with serrano ham), tortilla Sacromonte (omelette traditionally made with brains and offal), remojón granadino (salt cod and orange salad), bacalao con bresa de pimientos (cod with pepper sauce), rabo de toro (oxtail stew) and solomillo Nazarí with raisins and almonds. Desserts include leche frita. The front bar serves tapas.
The kitchen is open 13:00–16:00 and 20:00–23:30; the restaurant closes on Wednesdays. Mains cost roughly €18–28 and a meal about €40–55 per person with wine (2026); tapas at the bar are cheaper. Booking by phone or online is advised for the dining room and the terrace. The menu is available in English.
Lunch from 14:00 is the main local sitting; dinner fills after 21:30. The terrace on Plaza del Campillo is best on spring and autumn evenings. Tip: ask for a table in the Rinconcillo corner.
