Bar Los Diamantes
The original Los Diamantes on Calle Navas, a tiled fried-fish bar opened in 1942 where a caña still brings a free tapa of boquerones, calamares or gambas.
About Bar Los Diamantes
Los Diamantes opened on Calle Navas in 1942; the present owners describe their father serving his first tapas in this small room. Andalucía's tourist board lists the original bar as still active on the same spot. The family has since opened branches on Plaza Nueva, Plaza Bib-Rambla and elsewhere, but the Navas bar keeps its wall tiles, chalked menu and cramped counter.
The speciality is pescaíto frito, fish dusted in flour and fried to order in very hot oil: boquerones (fresh anchovies), calamares, cazón (dogfish, often marinated in adobo), rosada, salmonetes (red mullet) and the surtido, a mixed platter. There are also gambas al pil-pil, clams, navajas (razor clams), fried aubergine and artichokes. Drink a caña of Alhambra beer or a glass of white; each drink brings a free tapa, usually fried fish, chosen by the bar.
The Navas bar opens daily 12:30–16:00 and 20:00–23:30 and takes no reservations. Half raciones cost €11–16 and full raciones €16–22 (2026), the mixed fry €16/€22; a drink with tapa is about €3–4. Expect €20–30 per person for a proper meal. Space is tight and largely standing, with a few high tables; it suits a quick stop rather than a long lunch.
Arrive at opening or before 13:30 and 20:30 to find room at the counter. Lunch (14:00–16:00) is busiest. In spring and summer the boquerones are at their best. Tip: if the Navas bar is full, the Plaza Nueva branch serves the same fish.
