Bodegas Gutiérrez Colosía
Family sherry bodega built in 1838 at the mouth of the Guadalete in El Puerto de Santa María, offering good-value tours with a six-wine tasting from fino to Pedro Ximénez.
About Bodegas Gutiérrez Colosía
The bodega was built in 1838 on the Bajamar, the riverside road at the mouth of the Guadalete, and has been run by the Gutiérrez Colosía family for more than a century. Its position close to the Atlantic gives damp sea air that suits flor, the yeast that protects fino as it ages. The family makes DO Jerez wines across the range, from fino and amontillado to oloroso, cream, moscatel and Pedro Ximénez, along with sherry vinegar and brandy.
The guided visit covers the 19th-century cellar halls with their arches and butts, explains biological and oxidative ageing and the particular character of El Puerto wines, and ends with a commented tasting of six wines: fino, amontillado, oloroso, cream, moscatel and Pedro Ximénez. A second option pairs six wines with six tapas at Bespoke, the family's gastrobar a few doors along the avenue. The shop sells the full range.
Morning tours run Monday to Saturday at 11:15 in English and 12:30 in Spanish, and evening tours on Thursday and Friday at 18:30 in English and 19:15 in Spanish (2026). The tour with six wines costs €15 for adults and €6 for children over 4; the wine and tapas pairing is €35. Book on +34 956 852 852 or WhatsApp. The building has adapted access and toilets.
Visit in late spring for the Feria del Vino Fino in El Puerto. Buy a bottle of fino en rama or a vinegar. The catamaran from Cádiz docks a few hundred metres away, so you can visit without a car.
