Playa de la Bajadilla

Playa de la Bajadilla is an 850-metre urban beach of sand and gravel beside Marbella's fishing port, on the working eastern side of the town centre.

About Playa de la Bajadilla

Playa de la Bajadilla is an urban beach on the eastern side of central Marbella, beside the town's fishing port, which shares the Bajadilla name. It runs for about 850 m and is some 40 m wide, made of sand and gravel, with a seafront promenade behind it and Marbella's old town less than a kilometre to the west.

This is the working end of the Marbella seafront rather than its glamorous side, with fishing boats using the port next door. The beach is very popular, the water is usually calm, and it holds the Blue Flag. The leisure marina is about a kilometre away.

Lifeguards are on duty in season, and there are toilets, showers, sunbed and umbrella hire, food and drink and a sports area. Access is easy on foot along the promenade, with adapted access for people with reduced mobility, and an unguarded car park has more than 100 spaces.

Visit in June or September for warm water without the peak-season crowds. On summer days arrive early in the morning, when the car park has space and the sand is quiet; in the evening, the promenade walk west into the old town is a good way to end the day.

Nearby places to visit

Close by, Playa del Cable (500 m) is a narrow strip of sand that rarely gets busy, and Playa del Pinillo (1 km) is another beach on this part of the Marbella coast, handy if the Bajadilla is full. For families, QuizyGolf Mini Golf Marbella (2 km) is an easy diversion on a hot afternoon. Golfers will find the full-length course of Río Real Golf Marbella (3 km), which has its own teaching academy for lessons and practice. All are within a short drive or taxi ride of the port, so they combine well with a morning on the beach.
