Aquatropic
Aquatropic is a seawater water park on the Velilla seafront of Almuñécar, Granada, open since 1988, with a wave pool, Kamikaze, Black Hole and Hidrotubo slides and a children's lagoon.
About Aquatropic
Aquatropic stands on Paseo Reina Sofía at the Velilla end of Almuñécar's seafront, a few metres from the beach. Opened in 1988 and covering about 18,000 m², it fills its pools and slides with seawater. Since Aquaola near Granada closed in 2022 it has been Granada province's only water park, and its children's area was rebuilt for 2026.
Slides include the Kamikaze, the enclosed Black Hole and Hidrotubo, Torbellino, the Gemelos twin slides, Zig-Zag and the gentle Pistas Blandas. There is also a wave pool, a lagoon with a waterfall and a jacuzzi. Small children have their own lake and splash pool with water games, while teenagers head for the Kamikaze and the tubes.
The 2026 season ran from 12 June to 6 September, daily 11:00–19:00. At the gate visitors over 1.40 m paid €27, juniors (1.20–1.40 m) and over-65s €19.50 and children (0.95–1.20 m) €16; under 0.95 m free, and online tickets save €2. Parking costs €5. Own food is allowed (no glass or tins), and there are two restaurants, lockers and sunbeds for hire.
Mid-August is the busiest period; late June and early September are calmer. Arrive at 11:00 to claim shade, or come after 15:00 for the cheaper afternoon ticket sold at the gate. Bring swimwear, flip-flops and sun cream; own chairs, umbrellas and inflatables are not allowed. Urban bus line 3 stops nearby.

Nearby places to visit
Playa Tropical (1 km) and Playa de Velilla (1 km) flank the park, so a swim in the sea is easy before or after the slides. West along the promenade, Playa Puerta del Mar (1 km) leads to the old town, the Castillo de San Miguel and the Loro Sexi bird park. The underground Acuario de Almuñécar (2 km), with its shark tunnel, is a cool alternative on a hazy day. East along the coast, Castillo de Salobreña (8 km) crowns the white town of Salobreña, with views over the sugar-cane plain.
