About Cortijo El Cura Eco-Bodega
The family farmed in Almería's greenhouse belt until a doctor warned them about chemical exposure. In 1995 they returned to their roots in Laujar, bought this finca and turned to organic farming, becoming the first organic winery in the province. At almost 1,000 metres between the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de Gádor, the farm grows vines, olives, almonds and fruit, and keeps a traditional parral of 52 table-grape varieties.
The three-hour visit walks through the vines, olive and almond trees, vegetable garden and parral, a museum of farm tools and rural life and the small organic winery. It ends with a tasting of five wines, two of them premium, with Laujar cheese and sausage and village bread with the farm's olive oil; from August to January visitors can taste the 52 grape varieties. The shop sells the wines and oil.
Guided visits run every day at 11:00 and must be booked. Booking platforms list €22 per adult and €8 for ages four to 17 (2026). Tours are in Spanish and English and are led by the owners. The shop opens Monday to Friday 9:00 to 18:00 and weekends 10:00 to 18:00. The finca is 4 km from Laujar on the Órgiva road, with parking; wear comfortable shoes.
The harvest and the grape season, from late August to the autumn, are the best times. Summer evenings bring wine and astronomy sessions. Buy the Sierra de Gádor reds. Tip: lunch in Laujar afterwards and walk to the Nacimiento del Andarax springs.

The finca is just outside Laujar de Andarax, the capital of the Almería Alpujarra, 4 km away, known for its fountains, its spring wine fair and the Nacimiento recreation area in the chestnut woods above the town. The Renaissance Castillo de La Calahorra, across the Sierra Nevada, is 26 km north, and Playa de la Sirena Loca at Adra is 27 km south.
