About Playa Nueva Andalucía
Playa Nueva Andalucía, also called Playa del Duque, is the beach immediately west of Puerto Banús in Marbella, below the Nueva Andalucía district built up by developer José Banús. It runs for about 1,050 metres, with a strip of fine golden sand around 30 metres wide.
Palms and gardens behind the sand give it a greener look than much of this coast, and a series of short jetties holds the sand in place, creating calmer pockets of water for swimming. The marina next door, laid out as a traditional Andalusian village by Noldi Schreck and Marcos Sainz, opened in May 1970 with guests including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace, and beach clubs such as Ocean Club line the shore nearby.
Expect a busy, well-serviced beach: sunbed and umbrella hire, water-sports rental, showers and food and drink, plus an unsupervised car park with more than 100 spaces and urban buses along the old N-340.
For comfortable sea temperatures without peak crowds, come in June or September. In July and August arrive before about 11:00 to find space on the sand and in the car park; by late afternoon the beach clubs fill and the atmosphere turns livelier.

Nearby places to visit
Heading west, Playa El Rodeito (400 m) continues the same shoreline, and Playa de Cortijo Blanco (2 km) is a pebbly beach beside the residential estate of the same name. Further on, Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara (3 km) fronts the town of San Pedro and flies a Blue Flag. In the other direction, beyond the Puerto Banús marina, Playa Río Verde (2 km) stretches east towards the mouth of the Río Verde. Golfers can head inland to Magna Golf Marbella (3 km) in Marbella's so-called Golf Valley. The seafront promenade makes most of these beaches an easy walk or cycle from one another.
