Playa del Padrón

Playa del Padrón is a 1,400-metre Blue Flag beach of dark sand and pebbles on Estepona's eastern coast, about 4 km from the town centre, with a full set of services.

About Playa del Padrón

Playa del Padrón is a Blue Flag beach on the eastern side of Estepona's coastline, about 4 kilometres from the town centre. It is about 1,400 metres long and 20 to 40 metres wide, with dark sand, some pebbles and vegetation growing behind the shore.

It is a semi-urban beach, with residential areas set back from the sand and a partial seafront promenade alongside. It has a full set of services: showers, toilets, footbaths, sunbed and umbrella hire, a children's play area, a sports area and places to eat and drink. It also notes step-free access for wheelchair users. The swell is usually moderate.

There is unsupervised parking for more than 100 cars, and the interurban bus between Estepona and Marbella stops nearby, so it is easy to reach without a car.

The beach gets very busy in high season, so June and September are the best months, with warm water and more space on the sand. On summer days arrive before late morning to find a spot near the water, or come in the early evening, when the heat eases and the crowds thin out.

Nearby places to visit

Playa del Castor (2 km), named after the Castor river, is a quieter beach of about 600 metres with showers and sunbed hire. Playa Arroyo de las Cañas (3 km) is a longer semi-urban beach of around 1.2 km with beach bars, and Playa de Guadalmansa (3 km) to the east and Playa de La Rada (3 km), Estepona's main town beach, to the west add more sand along the same coast. For golfers, La Resina Golf & Country Club (4 km), a nine-hole course opened in 2005, is the nearest. The coast road and the Estepona–Marbella bus link most of these, so a day of beach-hopping needs no long drive.
