About Casares Costa Golf

Casares Costa Golf is a nine-hole course on the coastal side of Casares, at the western end of the Costa del Sol in Málaga province. It sits within the residential development of the same name, 700 metres up the Casares road from the coast between Estepona and Manilva, and was founded in 2006.

Bilbao architect Juan Carlos Martínez laid it out across a flat valley, mixing par 3s, 4s and 5s into a par of 34; played twice, it makes a par-68 round. Lakes are the main hazard. The 1st is exposed to the wind, with water in play and a green guarded by two deep bunkers. The par-5 7th, the longest hole, needs a second shot threaded between a long lake and the out-of-bounds line, with more water behind the green. Accuracy off the tee matters more than length.

Facilities include a driving range, putting and chipping greens, buggy, trolley and club hire, a golf school with group lessons for children, and a clubhouse restaurant looking towards the sea and mountains. Visitors are welcome every day.

Flat and fairly short, it suits beginners and juniors. October to May brings the most comfortable conditions; in summer, book the earliest tee time to finish before the midday heat.

Casares Costa is surrounded by other courses of the western Costa del Sol. Club de Golf Finca Cortesín (900 m), a Cabell B. Robinson design, staged the 2023 Solheim Cup, the first held in Spain, and Doña Julia Golf Club (1 km) is an 18-hole course whose elevated holes look across the Strait of Gibraltar on clear days. Down on the coast, Playa Ancha (2 km) is one of the beaches of Casares. Towards Estepona, Estepona Golf (3 km) and Azata Golf (4 km), which opened in 2019 and is one of the newest courses on the coast, add further rounds within a short drive.
