Playa de Tubalita

Playa de Tubalita is a small, quiet beach of dark sand and gravel on Manilva's south-western coast, with shallow water, no beach bar or sunbeds, and a summer lifeguard.

About Playa de Tubalita

Playa de Tubalita is a small, quiet beach on the south-western stretch of Manilva's coast, at the far western end of the Costa del Sol in Málaga province. It lies between Playa de las Arenas and Aldea Beach, a few kilometres south-west of Puerto de la Duquesa and close to Punta Chullera and the border with Cádiz.

The sand is fine and dark, mixed with gravel, and the water near the shore is shallow, with low waves. Unlike the beaches near the marina, there is no beach bar and no sunbed or umbrella hire. Facilities are limited to showers, litter bins and a lifeguard in high season, working from a watchtower installed in 2024. Dogs are not allowed, and the beach is not adapted for visitors with reduced mobility.

Tubalita is on Manilva's section of the Senda Litoral, the walking route along the Málaga coast, so you can follow the shore on foot to the neighbouring beaches. The 18th-century Castillo de la Duquesa, which houses the town's archaeological museum, is a short drive.

The beach rarely fills except in July and August, so June and September bring warm water without crowds. In summer, come in the morning, before the dark sand heats up, and bring shade, water and food.

Nearby places to visit

Several small beaches line this part of Manilva's coast. Closest is Playa del Negro (400 m), a long, straight beach of dark sand where dune plants grow on the protected shore. A little further on, Playa de las Arenas (1 km) is a semi-urban beach of golden gravel and coarse sand near the boundary with Cádiz province, while Playa de la Chullera (1 km) runs towards Punta Chullera, the last headland before Cádiz. Beyond them, Playa de los Toros (2 km) is the most open, least built-up beach on Manilva's southern coast, backed by dunes in a protected ecological reserve. The coastal path links most of them.
