Jamones Eíriz
Family Iberian ham maker in Corteconcepción, near Aracena, curing since 1818, whose two-and-a-half-hour tours visit pigs in the dehesa, the natural drying house and a ham tasting.
About Jamones Eíriz
The Eíriz family has made ham and cured meats in Corteconcepción since 1818, the oldest such firm in the village and one of the oldest in the Sierra de Huelva. It produces 100% Iberian bellota ham under the DOP Jabugo, as well as shoulders, loin, chorizo and salchichón, by hand and with natural curing in cellars cooled by mountain air. The company belongs to the Ruta del Jabugo producers' club.
The tour has three parts and lasts about two and a half hours. First comes a 40-minute walk in the dehesa of cork and holm oaks near the plant, where Iberian pigs roam and feed on acorns, with an explanation of the breed and the rules for each quality label. Next is the natural drying house, with the salting, post-salting, drying and maturing stages. Last is a tasting of 50% Iberian cebo ham and 100% Iberian bellota ham, loin and pork with Huelva wines.
Tours run Monday to Saturday at 11:00 and sometimes at 15:30, and only at 11:00 in July and August. In 2026 they cost €46 per adult, €23 for ages 12–18 and €10 for under-12s; under-2s are free, with a minimum of two people. Booking and online payment are required, and tours run in Spanish, English, French and German.
The montanera from October to March is the best season to see pigs on acorns; some processes vary through the year and are shown on video. Wear closed shoes and warm clothes in winter, as part of the tour is outdoors. Buy ham, cheese and local olive oil in the shop.
