Los Moriscos Club de Golf is a flat seafront par-70 links at Playa Granada, west of Motril, with papaya, mango and palm trees and sugar cane lining the fairways.
About Los Moriscos Club de Golf
Los Moriscos Club de Golf is the seafront course of the Playa Granada urbanisation, west of Motril on Granada's Costa Tropical, between the coast and the irrigated plain of the Guadalfeo delta. Coming from Málaga on the N-340, turn towards the sea at the roundabout about 1 km past Salobreña; the course is roughly 3 km further on.
It is an 18-hole, par-70 layout, a flat links beside the beach, with wide fairways, large greens and two lakes in play, and the Impressive Playa Granada Golf hotel stands among its holes. The holes were reworked in 2006. What sets it apart is the planting: papaya, mango and palm trees and stands of sugar cane line the fairways. On clear days the snow-capped Sierra Nevada rises behind the Mediterranean.
The front nine follows a separate route, and buggy users sometimes have to cross a road. Facilities include a driving range, putting and pitching greens, a golf school, a restaurant and bar, and club, buggy and trolley hire.
The Costa Tropical is mild through the winter, so October to May is the best season, and the mountain views are sharpest after winter rain. In summer, book an early tee time, before the heat and the afternoon crowds.

East towards town, Playa Motril (2 km), known locally as Playa de Poniente, is a broad beach of coarse sand and gravel with a palm-lined promenade. In Motril itself, the Preindustrial Sugar Cane Museum (4 km) is built over a late-medieval sugar mill and explains the crop still seen on the course. Beyond the port, Playa de Torrenueva Costa (6 km) has an old watchtower and a long promenade, while Playa Calabajío (9 km) is a short, rocky-edged beach on the quiet eastern side of Almuñécar. Just beyond it, Playa de Velilla (10 km) is the largest of Almuñécar's main beaches, behind a palm-lined promenade.
