Bodega Huerta de Albalá
Red and white wine estate near Arcos de la Frontera with 75 hectares of Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet and native Tintilla de Rota, offering vineyard tours and tastings of three to six wines.
About Bodega Huerta de Albalá
Vicente Taberner founded the estate about 25 years ago. Its 75 hectares hold 225,000 vines: 60% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Tintilla de Rota, a local red grape the bodega has helped to revive, plus a little Chardonnay. The vines grow at about 150 metres on gentle slopes with Atlantic influence. More than 450 French and American oak barrels age the red, white and rosé wines sold under the Taberner and Barbazul labels as Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz.
The standard visit lasts about two hours. It begins in the vineyard with views to the Grazalema peaks and the Bornos reservoir, then follows the grapes through the winery and barrel cellar before a tasting of three wines. The pairing visit adds five wines with cold local foods over three hours, and the premium visit pairs six wines with a tasting menu. Look out for the single-varietal Tintilla and a white made from Merlot.
In 2026 the standard visit costs €30, the pairing visit €50 and the premium visit €70. Request a date with the online form or at visitas@huertadealbala.com, giving the type of visit and number of people; ask in advance for a guide in English. Visitors must be 18 or over. The estate is 10 km from Arcos by car, with parking on site.
The grape harvest runs from August into September, when the cellar is busiest. Buy the Taberner Tintilla or a rosé to take home. There is no public transport, so pick a driver who will spit.
