About Arcos Gardens Golf Club
Arcos Gardens Golf Club, now marketed as Arcos Golf, lies about 3 km from Arcos de la Frontera on the road to Algar, in the countryside of the Sierra de Cádiz. Its 18-hole, par-72 course opened in 2006 inside the 440-acre Arcos Gardens estate, a gated residential development.
The layout was built by the American firm Landmark, whose portfolio includes PGA West and the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, and it was conceived to test elite players while remaining enjoyable for amateurs. The Swedish Golf Federation and the English Golf Union have both chosen it for winter training. More than 2,000 olive trees were replanted around the property, and a treatment plant recycles all the water used on the course.
Both nines finish with strong holes. On the par-five 9th a stream crosses the fairway twice before running into a pond to the right of the green, and a lake waits to the left of the 18th green for any pulled final approach.
Inland Cádiz is very hot in summer, so the best months are October to May. In warmer months book the earliest tee time; in winter, a late-morning start catches the warmest part of the day.

Arcos sits between the Sierra de Cádiz and the sherry country around Jerez. To the north-east, the Municipal Historical Museum of Villamartín (18 km) is the town museum of Villamartín, whose municipality also contains the Dolmen de Alberite, one of the earliest megalithic passage graves in the Iberian Peninsula. Heading west, the Circuito de Jerez Museum (24 km) is at the racetrack that hosts Spain's MotoGP round, and next door Montecastillo Golf & Country Club (25 km) is a Jack Nicklaus design that hosted the Volvo Masters. The two Jerez sites are side by side, so they combine easily with an afternoon in the city.
