Playa La Antilla is the main beach of Lepe, a long, straight stretch of Atlantic sand in front of the resort of La Antilla, less than 5 km from the town on the western Huelva coast. It runs for about 3 km between Islantilla to the west and the unbuilt beach of Nueva Umbría to the east, with a seafront promenade alongside.

La Antilla was Lepe's first tourist development, and the 16th-century Torre del Catalán, a coastal watchtower, stands nearby. The sand is fine and golden, the beach is about 50 metres wide and the waves are usually moderate. It holds the Q for tourist quality, awarded since 2008, and a universal accessibility certificate.

Facilities include toilets, showers and footbaths, sunbed and parasol hire, water-sports rental, a children's area and a sports area with a summer programme, plus lifeguards who use warning flags. Access is step-free, with amphibious chairs for wheelchair users, and there is a car park with more than 100 spaces.

The resort fills in July and August, so June and September are the easiest months. From the resort's eastern end, early morning or the last two hours before sunset are best for walking east onto the empty sand of Nueva Umbría, avoiding the midday heat.

Nearby places to visit

At the eastern end of the resort, Playa Nueva Umbría (500 m) begins: around 12 km of unbuilt sand on the ocean side of the Flecha de El Rompido. Across the Río Piedras, the beach of El Rompido (5 km) faces the calm estuary rather than the ocean, and Golf El Rompido (4 km) lies just outside that fishing village. To the west, the promenade leads to Playa Islantilla (6 km), a busy resort beach with full facilities, with the Islantilla Beach Golf Resort (5 km) close by. Allow time for the drive to El Rompido, which goes inland around the river.
