Playa Islantilla is the beach of Islantilla, a resort on the western Huelva coast shared between the municipalities of Isla Cristina and Lepe. The two councils set up the Mancomunidad de Islantilla in 1991 to plan it together, and the first hotel opened in 1992.

The beach runs for around 1.5 km and is 50 to 80 metres wide, with fine golden sand and Atlantic water that stays cool even in summer. It lies between Urbasur to the west and La Antilla to the east. A promenade runs the length of the resort, separating the dunes and beach from the 27-hole golf course inland. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag and, in 2014, the Q for tourist quality.

Facilities are extensive: boardwalks onto the sand, showers, toilets, sunbed and parasol hire, water-sports rental, a nautical club, children's and sports areas, and lifeguards using warning flags. Access is step-free, there is a car park with more than 100 spaces, and waves are usually moderate.

This is one of the busiest beaches in the area, even outside summer. June and September bring warm days with more room on the sand. In July and August, arrive before late morning to park near the promenade.

Nearby places to visit

Isla Cristina's Playa de la Redondela (1 km) lies just to the west, and for golf, Islantilla Beach Golf Resort (2 km) is the closest course. Further west, Playa Central (6 km) is the town beach of Isla Cristina, a town with one of Andalucía's most important fishing ports. Heading east, the promenade continues to La Antilla (6 km), Lepe's long resort beach, and beyond it Playa Nueva Umbría (6 km) offers around 12 km of unbuilt sand on the ocean side of the Flecha de El Rompido. A walk or bike ride along the promenade links Islantilla with La Antilla.
