Playa de la Alcaidesa is a long, open beach on the eastern side of the Campo de Gibraltar, shared between La Línea de la Concepción and San Roque below the Alcaidesa resort. About 4.3 km long and 60 m wide on average, it is a beach of golden sand with the Rock of Gibraltar to the south and, on clear days, the mountains of Morocco beyond the Strait.

The beach is semi-natural rather than urban: the Alcaidesa urbanisation and its golf courses sit back from the shore behind areas of unspoilt coastal vegetation. It holds the Blue Flag, and the sea is usually moderate, though on days of strong swell it calls for care with small children.

Facilities are concentrated at the access points. In high season there are toilets, showers, a lifeguard tower and a wooden ramp for wheelchair users, plus a beach bar and water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding and kitesurfing. Access is from the A-7 through the urbanisation, where beach parking is limited. Dogs are not allowed.

June and September are the best months, with warm water and less competition for parking than in July and August. Morning is the best time of day: in high season, aim to arrive before 10 am to park.

Golf is right on the doorstep: La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links (2 km) is the resort's large golf complex, reaching from the sand to the hills inland. Heading north-east along the coast into San Roque, Playa de Torrecarbonera (2 km) and Playa del Guadalquitón (3 km) continue the shoreline towards Sotogrande, both easy to reach from the A-7. A little further on, San Roque Golf Club (4 km) is another established course. Together they make it easy to combine a morning round with an afternoon on the beach and a sunset view of the Rock.
