Viñas Colonias de Galeón

Small winery in Cazalla de la Sierra, founded in 1998, making red and white wines from the old Colonias de Galeón farm plots, with visits to its cellar and Colonia 40 vineyard.

About Viñas Colonias de Galeón

The name recalls the Colonias Agrícolas de Galeón, more than 400 hectares near Cazalla de la Sierra divided into 70 lots for settler families, who were expected to plant vines. The winery began in 1998 to show that the Sierra Norte, a wine district since Roman times, could make good reds and whites. Its vineyard is plot 40, La Colonia 40, in the hills west of Cazalla; wines include Cantueso, Pinchaperas, Silente and Colonia 40.

El Origen starts in the bodega, where the guide follows the grapes from reception to bottling and you taste wines still in barrel. The group then drives to the Colonia 40 vineyard for a walk among the vines and ends in the vineyard house with an aperitif of local products and bottled wines. El Cordero follows the same route and finishes with milk-fed lamb roasted in a wood oven.

Visits run every day of the year, including holidays, by online booking. In 2026 El Origen (about 2 hours) costs €20 and El Cordero (about 5 hours) €60. You need your own car to reach the vineyard on country roads; parking is easy. Cazalla is 1 hour 15 minutes by car from Seville, so a designated driver is essential.

Harvest usually comes in September, later than in the lowlands, and October brings autumn colour. Buy a bottle of Cantueso. Tip: add Cazalla's anise distilleries and a walk on the Vía Verde.
