Granada Golf Club
Granada Club de Golf, open since 1986 on the flat farmland of the Vega at Las Gabias, about 8 km south-west of the city, an 18-hole, par-71 course facing the Sierra Nevada.
About Granada Golf Club
Granada Club de Golf lies on the flat farmland of the Vega de Granada at Las Gabias, about 8 km south-west of the city and roughly ten minutes' drive from the Alhambra. Open since 1986, it is the province's leading golf and social club, and it welcomes visitors.
The 18-hole, par-71 course measures 6,037 metres from the back tees. It is mostly flat and fairly short, with few hazards for much of the round. Water arrives late: two large lakes and a smaller one come into play on the 15th, 16th and 17th, and the large lakes also feed the course's irrigation.
The snow-capped peaks of Sierra Nevada fill the horizon for much of the year, framed most memorably from the 3rd. The club's golf school is well regarded, and its best-known product is the professional Scott Fernández. There is a driving range with pitching and putting greens, and the clubhouse restaurant serves Andalusian dishes such as broad beans with ham and Iberian pork fillet.
Spring is the best season, when the vega is green and the sierra still carries snow; October and November are also good. Granada's inland climate brings hot summer afternoons and frosty winter mornings, so tee off early in summer and from late morning in winter.

Granada has three museums worth pairing with a round. The Archaeological Museum of Granada (9 km) occupies a Renaissance mansion on the Carrera del Darro, below the Alhambra. On the Alhambra hill, the Manuel de Falla House Museum (9 km) preserves the carmen where the composer lived, and the Ángel Barrios Legacy Museum (9 km) recalls the musician whose family home inside the Alhambra hosted Falla and Lorca. North-west across the vega, the Federico García Lorca House Museum (19 km) in Valderrubio was the poet's family summer home.
