About Aguilón Golf

Aguilón Golf is an 18-hole, par-70 course at Pilar de Jaravía in the municipality of Pulpí, at the northern tip of Almería's coast near the border with Murcia. Designed by Stirling & Martin and opened in 2008, it lies at the foot of the Sierra del Aguilón, looking over the Bay of Pulpí.

The club bills it as Europe's best desert course, and the layout makes full use of the terrain: natural ravines cut across the holes, six lakes and more than 100 bunkers add hazards, and there are views of the Mediterranean. Multiple tees let it play from 4,147 to 6,012 metres, so higher handicappers can choose a manageable length. It hosted the Spanish Senior and Super Senior Professional Championship in 2023 and an ALPS Tour event in 2024.

Facilities include a clubhouse with restaurant and terrace bar, a pro shop, lessons and electric buggies with GPS. Visitors are welcome every day of the year.

November to April is the best period, with mild, sunny winter days. In summer, tee off at first light, before the dry heat builds. Leave time for the Geoda de Pulpí, the giant crystal-lined geode in the nearby Mina Rica, where visits must be booked.

Playa La Entrevista (3 km) is an undeveloped beach of about 1 km of white sand and gravel, with no services. Playa de Calipso (3 km) is one of the busiest family beaches at San Juan de los Terreros, with gentle water and walks along the shore. Playa La Serena (4 km) offers some 700 m of fine golden sand with showers and parking, and Playa de Pozo del Esparto (4 km), about 1,200 metres of dark sand and gravel at Pozo del Esparto, closes this run of coast. Pick a beach after a morning round.
