Parque Cinegético Collado del Almendral
Parque Cinegético Collado del Almendral is a 100-hectare wildlife park above the Tranco reservoir in the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas mountains, toured by guided train past deer and ibex.
About Parque Cinegético Collado del Almendral
The park lies beside the A-319 above the Tranco reservoir, in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, in the municipality of Hornos. Its 100 hectares of pine-clad hillside were set aside to show the large mammals of these mountains and for environmental education, and it carries the Natural Park of Andalucía quality brand.
A guide drives visitors in a tourist train along a 5 km circuit, about 45 minutes, past red deer, fallow deer, mouflon and Spanish ibex in semi-freedom and reintroduced roe deer. A 3 km return path then leads to viewpoints over the reservoir and a bird-of-prey flight display. Premium visits add two Iberian wolves seen from a raised hide.
The centre opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–17:00. Premium tours leave at 10:00, 12:00 and 15:00 and standard ones at 11:00, 13:00 and 16:00; book by phone (953 825 267). In 2026 standard tickets cost €10 for adults and €8 for children 2–12, premium €15 and €11, under-2s free. There is a café, shop and picnic tables. Allow three hours; come by car.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons; in September and October the deer rut can be heard across the valley. In summer take a morning tour, as the path has little shade. Wear walking shoes, carry water and bring binoculars. Pair the visit with a picnic by the reservoir or a drive to Hornos de Segura.

The park is the gateway to some of the best walking in the Natural Park: the trail along the Río Borosa and Cerrada de Elías (9 km) follows wooden walkways through a gorge and suits older children. Upstream, the castle village of Hornos de Segura (16 km) has a planetarium and views over the reservoir. West across the mountains, the hilltop town of Iznatoraf (21 km) keeps its medieval layout, and the waterfall gorge of Cerrada del Utrero (21 km) near Cazorla is an easy family walk. Further north stands the Castillo de Segura de la Sierra (27 km).
