Dehesa Montenmedio Golf & Country Club
An 18-hole, par-72 course on a wooded estate about 5 km from Vejer de la Frontera, designed by Alejandro Maldonado, with no housing overlooking its pine and cork oak fairways.
About Dehesa Montenmedio Golf & Country Club
Dehesa Montenmedio Golf & Country Club lies on a large wooded estate at kilometre 42.5 of the N-340, about 5 km from Vejer de la Frontera, in the La Janda district of Cádiz province. Its 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Alejandro Maldonado and opened in the mid-1990s.
The course follows the natural contours of an old Andalusian farm, through pine and cork oak woodland, with Bermuda fairways and Pennlinks greens. No villas or apartment blocks overlook its fairways or greens. At just under 6,000 metres from the back tees it is not long, but the undulating ground brings a few climbs, and deer, foxes, ducks and eagles can be seen. The clubhouse is a hacienda-style building, and there is a driving range, a pitch and putt, a golf school, buggy and club hire, and a restaurant.
The estate is also home to the Hotel Hacienda Montenmedio, the Montenmedio equestrian centre and the NMAC Foundation, which places contemporary art in the Mediterranean woodland along a walking route.
October to May brings the best golf. In February and March the Sunshine Tour show-jumping circuit fills the estate. In summer, take an early tee time to finish before the heat, and check the forecast for the strong levante wind.
