Alcalá Oliva (Museo del Aceite de Oliva)
Family olive oil company 3 km outside Alcalá la Real, maker of Minioliva single-dose oils, whose old mill now houses an olive oil museum facing the Fortaleza de la Mota across the groves.
About Alcalá Oliva (Museo del Aceite de Oliva)
The mill on the A-339 was founded in 1954 as a cooperative and bought in 1997 by Alcalá Oliva, a family company that launched its own brand in 2000. Its founder, Santiago Pérez Anguita, designed the olive-shaped Minioliva single-dose pack in 2002, which won an innovation prize at SIAL Paris in 2012. In 2015 a new packing plant with a large cellar opened, and the old mill was restored as the Museo del Aceite de Oliva. The range covers extra virgin oils, flavoured oils and vinegars.
Visits begin with a walk among centuries-old olive trees, with the Fortaleza de la Mota on its hill across the valley. Inside, the museum shows the old mill and explains how production has changed, with audiovisuals and family activities. A guide then leads a tasting of extra virgin oils. Breakfast or lunch and, in season, olive picking can be added.
Guided visits take about an hour, usually at 10:00 and 12:00, and cost from €10 per person (2026); book ahead online or by phone. The office and shop open Monday to Friday 09:00–14:00 and 15:00–18:00 and Saturday 10:00–13:00. Visits are in Spanish and English. The plant is on the A-339, 3 km west of Alcalá.
The olive picking option runs in the harvest, roughly November to January. Buy the Homenaje special edition or a box of Minioliva in the shop.
