About San Roque Golf Club
The San Roque Club is a private golf club and gated residential estate on the A-7 in the municipality of San Roque, in the Campo de Gibraltar, a few kilometres from Gibraltar and close to Sotogrande. It opened in 1990; local lore says its owner fell for the estate and went to Japan to set up the project.
The Old Course is an 18-hole par 72 designed by Dave Thomas. It measures 6,494 metres and was completely renovated by 2020, with refurbished bunkers, bent-grass greens and Bermuda fairways, and cork oaks and bunkers guard the greens. The New Course, a 2002 Perry Dye design next door, has not been part of the club since March 2024.
The club has staged the Open de España and final stages of the European Tour Qualifying School, and Seve Ballesteros, once its chairman, used it as the base for Europe's 1997 Ryder Cup team. The rooms of The Suites at San Roque Club are named after that team. The driving range uses Toptracer shot tracking.
Autumn to spring gives the best conditions. Book a morning tee time in summer, and finish on the terrace above the 9th and 18th greens at sunset.
